Technical Services Resources Coordinator
The Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre is an acknowledged world renowned facility for the hosting of national and international conferences, conventions, exhibitions and events.
This position is responsible for ensuring all events have adequate audio visual equipment and staff support to deliver, meet or exceed the client’s requests and event requirements and provide administrative and technical support to the Assistant Technical Services Manager.
To achieve this you will need to liaise with internal and external parties to ascertain the requirements for each event including the completion of quotations, delivery of technical advice and rostering of staff. Other aspects will include equipment hire, monitoring of the store rooms and setup equipment, implementation and maintenance of an equipment register, equipment maintenance, monthly reports and supervision of contractors.
You will possess proven experience with rostering, supervising and delegating staff, inventory management, operation and setup of audio visual systems, together with excellent communication skills, an ability to prioritise multiple tasks and handle pressure. While an Elevated Work Platform license is preferable, a willingness to work flexible hours and proven administrative skills and computer literacy are essential.

With a strong background in live performing arts you will be focussed on the delivery of excellent customer service.

Position Summary: This role consists of managing all production elements for HIT Productions both in the Sandringham offices and (as required) on tour. Pre-production elements include the financial planning and quoting processes of the project, advising on and monitoring effective touring schedules in addition to managing administerial and logistical touring requirements, appointing and managing communication with technical crew and companies i.e. sound, lighting, set building. The Production Manager is also responsible for the supervision of all personnel in the touring company and making decisions regarding the safety and well being of those personnel including correct handling procedures.

Position Summary:
T his role consists of managing all technical touring production elements for HIT Productions. Pre- production duties include the understanding and familiarisation of established lighting and set designs for remounts and the operation of lighting for new productions. Touring duties include driving the truck (up to 5 tonnes) as required to scheduled venues, supervision of the bump in/out and assistance and instruction to local loaders. All technical lighting requirements, checking the pre rig, additional set ups, focus and operation of lighting desk, as well as audio levels and communication systems, hire and return of additional equipment and maintenance of set on tour. Other duties related to the effective running of the tour as required by the Production Manager or Producer. In addition, the touring technician will be required to keep to effective touring schedules, and budgets, including the collection and return of receipts, support administration and logistics personnel on touring requirements and attendance at production meetings. The Touring technician directly reports to the Production Manager and consults on technical specifications in venues. Upon finalisation of the tour the touring technician assists the correct return and storage of sets, costumes and company property.

Think! OTS has been appointed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to design, construct and maintain/operate the Australian Pavilion at the 2005 World Expo in Japan.
World Expo 2005 Aichi will be held in Nagoya from 25 March to 25 September 2005.
Aichi Expo 2005 will be a world-class event with over 120 countries represented. The Expo Authority is anticipating 15 million visitors to the Expo.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Think! OTS intends the Australian Pavilion to be a showcase of the best that Australia has to offer. As has been the case at previous Expos, the Australian pavilion is expected to be one of the most popular national pavilions.
You could join the team to represent Australia on this exciting project. Think! OTS is seeking applications from suitable persons for the positions of:
• Pavilion Technical Maintenance Crew Operations – 3 positions
• Audiovisual and IT installers – fit out period only – 3 positions

Want experience as a follow spot operator?
A great opportunity exists for any young people interested in lighting to gain some real-world experience on a new production playing in Sydney in September and October. Back to the 80s is a new musical performing at Panthers World of Entertainment from September 19 - 26, then at Riverside Theatres in Parramatta from October 4 - 17. Lighting designer Richard Neville and operator Clint Dulieu are looking for two follow spot operators who would like to volunteer their time, while learning more about the process of lighting for theatre.
The show has a cast of 50 and features a spectacular set and band with a hlilarious script worked around all the best 80s songs. Anyone interested would gain experience in operating spotlights, operating and programming for theatre and have a great time working with a fun, energetic crew. The lighting rig includes just over 100 conventional fixtures and 30 moving lights.

Technical Stage Manager
Melbourne Fringe Festival is seeking application for Technical Stage Manager to facilitate the technical requirement of shows in an assigned venue. The applicant will have experience in stage management, with basic knowledge of operating lights and sound equipment . Festival experience desirable.
The position requires: keeping a record of the each shows technical and stage requirements; communicating relevant information between the various productions

Position Description:
- Facilitate the technical needs of events in the assisgned performance space.
- Be responsible for quick turn around between shows, as well as setting up props, lighting and sound requirements for each show.
- Attend scheduled Tech Rehearsals and assist in the developing show plot and cues for events in the performance space in association with the performers/director.
- Ensure the security of equipment and backstage areas by limiting unauthorised access.
- Prior to the first public performance and between subsequent performances, check equipment to see that it is safe and operational. Any loss, damage or equipment failure must be reported promptly to the
Production Manager.
- Operate lights, sound and any other audio-visual requirements for all events in the performance space.
- Direct turn around between shows - i.e. removal of props, set, etc... with the assistance of the show cast/crew and roving technical crew.
- In consultation with the performers, determine latecomers' calls prior to performances and inform Front of House Manager.
- Complete your time sheet at the conclusion of each shift. It is your responsibility to ensure your time sheet is completed correctly and is provided to the production
manager for approval on the last day of each performance week. Payment will occur within the fortnightly pay cycle of Melbourne Fringe into a nominated bank account.
Salary: $17.00 per hour (flat rate) minimum 4-hr call

We are in the process of installing a small moving light rig in the main hall which from time to time will require a competant operator to run this during an event or to set it up for automatic "light show" runs for balls etc.
I need to be able to tap into a pool of people who can imagine the possibilities available in a 8 head moving ligh rig (4 wash/4 spots) whilst maintaing the discipline required to use this rig in a theatrical environment.

The Technical Production Manager has overall responsibility for the effective production management of all NICA productions, performances, tours and the like; the procurement and maintenance of all performance-related equipment; and the employment and management of full-time, contract and casual production and technical staff. The Technical Production Manager will enjoy working in a creative environment as part of a professional team.
DUTY STATEMENT
Take responsibility for the overall supervision of production areas including staging, lighting, sound, wardrobe, stage management etc.
Act as Technical Production Manager of all NICA productions and events, taking responsibility for the costing and procurement of all necessary equipment and the employment and supervision of all relevant technical and production staff in association with the event’s Producer. These events may include major productions or smaller events at NICA or elsewhere.
In association with the Producer, develop production schedules for tours, events and productions. Develop and manage production budgets and control and report on expenditure within prescribed budget limits. Ensure the Producer or other relevant supervisor is made aware of any likely variations to budgets, and ensure that no expenditure commitments are made without the proper authority. Make recommendations regarding the efficient solution of technical and production problems and issues.
Ensure that all activities and events are undertaken within the approved guidelines of the relevant public safety acts and regulations relating to live performance and in accordance with approved occupational health and safety standards.
Manage and maintain the inventory of all NICA’s technical and production equipment, props, costumes and the like and make recommendations regarding procurement, hires, maintenance and storage.
Advise NICA of any particular areas where the provision of goods and services in kind on a sponsorship basis may be feasible in order to deliver relief to budgeted expenditure.
Alert NICA to all significant logistic and technical issues which may have an effect on the delivery of activities and recommend appropriate action.
Participate in the planning of NICA events and future developments, including recommendations for the design and equipping of venues and training/rehearsal spaces.
